Who are they?

Personality:  Shaun is actually a gentle and kind giant, he doesn't know how to curse and is generally nice to everyone he meets, he also doesn't really know how to say 'no' to others. Despite his appearance, the boy is quite shy, not the blushing type though. As for his temper, he has gotten the short end with a pretty short fuse, yet it is still quite hard to make him mad since he's slow like a slug and won't probably notice that he's being picked on or made fun of. This also makes him bad at getting jokes, he always misses the point and tends to forget things often as well. On the other hand, Vollan is fast to think of solutions, alternative ways and random ideas in general, he is very creative, although sometimes he may not know how to express it. One last thing to be said about him is his persistence. Shaun can fail a hundred times at something, but he won't ever give up.

Their story

History:   Shaun was an orphan, not that it mattered much as the women from his tribe were all responsible for the children, regardless of who their true parents were, treating everyone equally. However, never once it was told the boy who happened to be his mother and father were, for unknown reasons, and so he was raised just like any other child. His curious nature led him to spend more time with the tribe elders, learning about legends, fighting and other stuff than spending time with kids his age. While some would appreciate his efforts and interest, others would just tell him off, since he was "nothing but a child". Those words never hurt or stopped him from doing his own things.

As he quickly grew up, his natural body build helped him to stand out among fighters and hunters, being recognized as one of the best while still on his early teens. That kind of praise was supposed to be a good thing, if it weren't for outsiders burning and tearing down the forest surrounding their village, a sacred forest to them. Upon such threat, Shaun, who was the best warrior at the time, was chosen to fulfill the role as 'The Guardian', the spirit who attacked those who hurt the environment. Upon reluctantly accepting the task, he underwent the ritual that made him what he is, accepting the spirit into his body. Horns grew from the back of his head and if he wasn't already strong enough, he surely became much more, but the ritual did not only grant him that, it turned him into the Boitata, the giant, fire-breathing horned snake, guardian of the forests. It was his duty to burn those who would hurt nature.

Vollan was sent out to live in the river, as a giant snake or nearby it, as a human. As the Boitata, his duty was to scare away the outsiders who were damaging the forest with his gleaming yellow snake eyes or burn them down, which he did diligently. He was born there, taught to respect and how to live from the gifts nature would give from the forest, so it was only natural for him to protect such place. However, Shaun could not deny his growing curiosity about those men and women; who they were, where were they from, what was their life like? So, one day, he decided to backtrack their steps, leading him to Magari after a very long walk, past places he had never seen before.

The village boy was surprised by what he saw in Magari. He learned about the mafia and how things worked over there, with a bit of difficulty, although not something he couldn't handle. Shaun was particularly amazed by their musical instruments and overall charmed by the Hans, which seemed to be an welcoming new home. Between going back and staying in this new place he had found, he decided to join the famiglia.
